Chic Physique is the premier women’s alternative fitness studio in the greater Washington DC Metro Area offering traditional and specialty classes, all within a small studio setting. The main focus of Chic Physique is pole dance and fitness classes incorporating dance, acrobatics, strength training and aerobic activity executed through a series of “exercises” on a vertical pole.
It is noted that pole dance fitness classes burn an estimated 300 – 500 calories and offer increases in participants’ strength and flexibility. Moreover, because the activity is weight-bearing it can help to increase bone density as well, thus helping to mitigate the effects of Osteoporosis. However, the benefits of this dance and fitness far extend beyond the physical realm in that it helps women to explore their feminine “sexy” side and build confidence and self-esteem in an all-female setting.
The founder’s strengths lay in her broad span of small business dealings. Though Chic Physique was established in 2009, Tina Moran has successfully owned and operated an alternative dance and fitness studio, with pole dance and fitness classes as the focus for the past five and a half years. Tina’s very first studio, in a commercial space, opened in 2007 and that studio was the very FIRST pole dance fitness studio in the Washington DC area originally starting in 2005. From this experience, she gained a strong understanding of class needs and the wants of her clientele.
All of the instructors, collectively, have over 20 years of dance, aerobic and/or martial arts experience. Our instructors are carefully selected from our most experienced students and go through a rigorous training to become Chic Physique instructors. They also receive continuous training to stay current with the ever growing advances in our pole dance fitness industry and all instructors are CPR/AED certified. With that, Chic Physique Fitness has developed a unique training program for its students, based on aerial fitness and suspended movement, as the basis for its pole dance fitness program. Utilizing this foundation enables participants to better understand the muscles necessary to correctly perform the exercises. This form of exercise offers improved endurance, strength and flexibility to participants.
With pole dance fitness gaining in popularity many people are looking to cash in on this “fad” or “craze.” Anyone who still calls it that truly does not understand the art. Pole dance fitness is a highly skilled form of aerial acrobatics that should be treated as such. Please beware of discount studios and inexperienced instructors.
